-Zuko”now show me what you got, any amount of fire you can make”
Aang calls Zuko “Sifu Hotman”
Zuko has trouble firebending…due to altitude of WAT location (joke) OR being frustrated/nervous

-Aang’s first attempt to shoot fire out of palms is a failure. nothing comes out. Funny thing is that Zuko doesn’t do much better!! He’s probably too nervous. Sokka walks in on the lesson and cracks jokes.
Zuko: “I’m talking about my firebending, it’s gone.” uhoh, i think he’s serious. he says it’s just weaker for some reason. Zuko says “I bet it’s because i changed sides.” Aang “maybe your firebending comes from rage.” Now they’re discusssing why Zuko sucks now. Toph recommends Zuko draw from his original source of firebending. Toph says hers with badger moles. Now they show the scene where Toph learns from badger moles. “they were blind just like me”
ORIGINAL FIREBENDERS WERE THE DRAGONS, AND THEY’RE EXTINCT. - Zuko
now they talk about these sun WARRIORS! orginal firebenders or something. OMG, these are those mayan ruins probably! (confirmed)
-ruins are booby trapped, centuries old, still work.
-”where’s that big attitude you were talking about” -Zuko
-they are looking for original source of firebending.
-Sozin started the tradition of hunting dragons for glory. UNCLE IROH KILLED THE LAST DRAGON, hence the name DRAGON OF THE WEST. (if you slay a dragon, you get the title)
-Zuko and aang go through temples. reach a door. now they’re trying to simulate a solstice because that’s how the door opens. they succeed.
-statues in the room. “dancing dragon” caption on statue. Aang tells Zuko to dance with him (follow the steps of the statue)
- OMG, they’re gonna learn the “sun warrior firebending form”!
- they do the moves and some golden egg comes out of the floor on some pedestal
- it’s booby trapped, Zuko is glued to the bars on the roof. (they fell into hole and the top is closed by bars. room fills with slicky oil muck, they float to the surface are stuck against bars. they are there for hours until it turns dark. now some native guy finds them, accuses them of trying to steal the SUN STONE.
-Aang tells the natives that he’s avatar.
-Sun warrior civilization is secretly alive (those native guys).
-Aang and Zuko ask to learn the sun warrior way of firebending, firebending that is not fueled by rage. Apparently the fire nation has distorted the way of firebending over the years. The head native guy, the chief, backs down and tells them to meet with two firebending masters and they will read Aang and zuko’s hearts.
-(wow, so is this gonna be like Katara and Aang learning waterbending together?)
- there is an original flame, the first fire given to people by the dragons. Zuko and Aang must present a piece of the fire to the masters . Aang complains that he ’s not a firebender. Aang tries and is able to do it, but has to walk slower than Zuko because it’ll go out if he walks too fast.
- “the masters” are located at the town of a hill, between two large rocks.
- because Zuko’s ancestors are directly responsible for dragons demise, the chief muses that “the masters” will not greet them positively. Aang says he’s the avatar so they’ll be nice but chief retorts that disappearance of avatar is why fire nation was able to hunt down the dragons.
- Aang suggests they leave now since they already learned alot, but Zuko says they can take them.
OMG, THERE IS A DRAGON, TWO!!! BLUE ONE AND RED ONE!
- “the masters” are the dragons.
- the red and blue ones fly around Zuko and Aang. Aang suggests they do the fire dance, what they learned from the statues. they do that. chief says “judgement time”.
- the dragons shoot rainbow coloured fire at them. many colours of fire, like “firebending harmony”.
- Iroh was the last one to face the masters. the dragons deemed him worthy and passed to him “the secret”. SO IROH’S GOOD, HE ONLY LIED TO PROTECT THE MASTERS!!!
-YAY! Zuko can firebend again. he now has a new drive, when b4 his drive was to hunt the avatar. that’s why he lost his firebending when he joined the Gaang.
- AAng can also firebend!! he just shoot a big flame out of his hand.
- chief jokes that now that Zuko and Aang know existence of sun warriors, that they must be imprisoned.
it’s a firebending form, called “the dancing dragon”.
-Zuko and Aang go back to WAT and demonstrate to everybody the form. Aang says that with this new technique they’ll be unstoppable.

Other Comments:
- Zuko and Aang were in the spotlight for this episode. There was only a bit of Toph, Katara, and Sokka at the beginning and at the end. Don’t recall seeing Haru, Teo, or The Duke at all. Maybe they were there at the campfire sharing scene, but they didn’t have any lines I don’t think. (Edit: ok, HaruTeoDuke were definitely there in the audience. Just zero lines.)
- Iroh didn’t have any screen time but they did reveal quite a lot about his history. I am SO relieved that he didn’t kill the last dragon, phew.
- I think Zuko has regained his FULL firebending. I think he just lost his “source” of firebending but got a new source after meeting with the dragons. We’ll see in the next episode if that is the case.
- Regarding Kataang, Katara still clearly hates Zuko’s guts and shows it in front of everyone. She deals so pretty low blow jokes when they were talking about how Zuko lost his firebending.
-Also, I forgot to give Toph credit for suggesting they seek out the original source of firebending. Flameyo Toph!
- Watched it again and made a mistake. Zuko and Aang didn’t fall into a hole. The door into (and out of ) the room of statues closed and the room was flooded with glue. There was an opening on the ceiling of the room but there were metal bars blocking it off. (Aang, learn metalbending soon!)
- The Dragons are named “Ran” and “Shaw” (don’t know about spelling) Hey, if one’s female and the other’s male, then…
- There was some neat comic relief during the most intense part of the episode. Zuko and Aang have some great chemistry. Aang lost his flame right before they were suppose to present it to the masters. He tried to steal some from Zuko and that made Zuko lose his as well. So the dragons came out and neither of them had a flame to present. One of the natives remarked something like, “Yup, dinner for the masters!”.
- Gotta give credit to Aang for quick thinking. He came up with the idea of doing the dance they learned. Likely saved them from being eaten alive.“
